Control of External Corrosion on Underground or Submerged Metallic Piping Systems
Because of widespread interest in the proposed revision in progress to NACE International standard SP0169 (formerly RP0169), "Control of External Corrosion on Underground or Submerged Metallic Piping Systems," NACE is sponsoring an information-gathering session to explore opinions and technical data.
Input from this session will be provided to Task Group 360, which is charged with the revision of the standard. Task Group members are conducting an ongoing review of cathodic protection methods and criteria from literature including standards and technical papers from many areas of the world. Technological advances and research are being considered in the effort to provide an up- to-date, technically sound performance standard that can be used globally by those responsible for integrity of pipelines.
This NACE-sponsored event is planned for Friday, November 30, at the Doubletree Houston Intercontinental Airport Hotel, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The informal agenda will begin with an overview of SP0169 and the standards development process by NACE Technical Coordination Committee (TCC) Chair Jim Moore, and facilitated by Specific Technology Group (STG) 35 Chair Ernie Klechka, TG 360 Chair Jim Chmilar, and Vice Chair Jerry Holton.
