In order to overcome cost challenges, many companies are focusing on automation technology, the use of industry best practices, and streamlined work processes to improve their performance. In parallel, they are implementing focused and strategic cost-controls improved through the implementation of effective risk management practices (Reference the Inspectioneering January/February 2017 article, 2017's Leadership "To Do List" - Business Processes and their Importance.) to help them better prioritize resources and cost allocation (i.e., work smarter).
In all of this, I believe MOTIVE is KEY to building and establishing an effective organization where processes that create success are sustainable. Motive will “color” every decision of the organization and individuals. As author and motivational speaker Simon Sinek says, the WHY is even more fundamental than the HOW or WHAT (i.e., WHY are we doing what we do?). Sinek also says that most organizations get hung up on the HOW and WHAT without getting to the WHY, but it is the WHY that engages us and galvanizes teams, as long as the core values of the WHY are shared. This is certainly important in achieving buy-in to new initiatives, engaging team members, and contributes heavily to the sustainability of any program or initiative. Is this a new realization for you and/or your organization?
“WHY” hits us at our core values. Core values must be communicated well and shared to get everyone on board.
