Industrial Cleaning is performed periodically at refineries and chemical plants to remove excess dirt and product residue from process equipment in preparation for inspection and to increase equipment efficiency. Dirty equipment can experience reduced efficiency and lifespan, and if neglected, can lead to equipment failures. In heat exchangers, chemicals can drop out of the feedstock and stick to the equipment walls. These chemicals can compound over time and eventually foul the equipment, negatively affecting performance.[1]
Because of this, periodic cleaning of the inside and outside of process equipment is important for its long term health. Industrial cleaning is often performed during turnarounds, when equipment is offline and can be entered safely. Depending on the equipment type, industrial cleaning can be completed at either the plant or an offsite facility designed for effective and responsible cleaning.[1]
