Petrochemical manufacturer LyondellBasell Industries (LYB.N) said on Friday its Houston refinery would operate at about 80% of 263,776 barrel-per-day (bpd) capacity in the fourth quarter of 2023.
The reduced production is due in part to planned maintenance currently being performed on the 110,000 barrel-per-day (bpd) gasoline-producing fluidic catalytic cracker (FCC), Executive Vice President Kim Foley said in a conference call with Wall Street analysts.
Overhauling the FCC will cost $25 million, Foley said.
Lyondell continues to plan to idle the Houston refinery by no later than the end of March 2025, she said.
The company announced in June it would reschedule the planned closure from the end of this year to the end of the first quarter of 2025.
Lyondell continues to eye converting the refinery's site on the Houston Ship Channel after the refinery's closure to one using converted hydrotreaters and new production units that make plastic feedstocks from low-carbon or recycled materials.
