BASF TotalEnergies Petrochemicals in Port Arthur Remains Shut After Fire and Tower Collapse

A fire broke out at a refinery's pyrolysis gasoline unit at about 10:45 AM followed by the collapse of the extractive dissolution tower. Employees not involved in handling the fire and collapse were evacuated with everyone accounted for and no injuries reported.

The refinery informed the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, leading to a response from TCEQ regional staff. The fire was contained by 1:30 PM, and the Port Arthur Fire Department responded as part of a mutual aid agreement. The company is investigating the incident's cause.
