Michigan Attorney General Selects Companies to Evaluate Risk of Underwater Pipelines

The Detroit News, July 14, 2016

Det. Norske Veritas and Dynamic Risk Assessment Systems Inc. have been selected by Michigan state officials to provide an independent analysis of the risks posed by a pair of pipelines buried underneath the Straits of Mackinac. “Our Great Lakes are the crown jewels of Michigan and we have a duty preserve them for generations to come,” said Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette. “We are now taking the next step forward to formally define the environmental and financial risks we face.” The pipelines under examination are owned and operated by Alberta-based Enridge Energy, who is footing the $3.5 million bill for the study in an effort to "help build trust and confidence among Michigan residents in [their] continued safe and reliable operations" of midstream assets in the region.
