EPA to host webinar on Thursday to discuss new regulations reforming the TSCA

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, June 28, 2016

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is hosting a webinar this Thursday, June 30th from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. (EST), to provide an overview of the new Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act, which was signed into law by President Obama last week and amends the Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA), the Nation’s primary chemicals management law. This initial webinar will be informational only to help inform those unfamiliar with the new law.

The new law, which received bipartisan support in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate, includes numerous changes, including:

  • Mandatory requirement for EPA to evaluate existing chemicals with clear and enforceable deadlines;
  • New risk-based safety standard;
  • Increased public transparency for chemical information; and
  • Consistent source of funding for EPA to carry out the responsibilities under the new law.
