Rick Nichols: About the Author

Rick Nichols

Rick Nichols has been involved in petrochemical industries for over 53 years as a mechanical engineer experienced in design of pressure vessels, reactor internals, failure analysis, and maintainability. His project management experience includes work with Monsanto, Diamond Shamrock, and Pennzoil. He joined API in 1989 on the team that wrote API Std 653. A member of the Committee on Refinery Equipment since 1989 (serving 3 years as chair), Rick also chaired the ICP Task Group since its inception and worked extensively with API standards and RPs. After 15 years with an engineering firm, he is now the President of Nichols Engineering Services, LLC. Rick received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University in 1972 and is a registered P.E. in 14 states.
