Chemical Plant Explosion in China Kills at Least 47; Injures More than 600

A massive explosion at a chemical complex in China yesterday has killed at least 47 people and sent more than 600 to the hospital.  The blast happened at about 14:50 local time (06:50 GMT) on Thursday at a plant in Yancheng, run by Tianjiayi Chemical.  The explosion was so powerful that it registered as a 2.2 magnitude earthquake and damaged buildings nearly 2 miles away.  An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the explosion.
