Travis Keener, P.E. Travis Keener, Global Asset Integrity Management (AIM) Technical Advisor, provides Global AIM Support for SGS. Travis joined SGS North America in 2007 at the AIM Competence Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He has worked in several key roles including Team Leader, Project Manager and Business Development Manager with major clients such as ExxonMobil, BP, and ONEOK. In his current role he serves as a subject matter expert for AIM services, software, and technologies. Travis is responsible for providing consultant services internally and externally on projects that require AIM, RBI methodology, and project support. Travis is a licensed professional engineer in Oklahoma with a specific discipline in chemical engineering. Prior to joining SGS, he spent a decade with Eastman Chemical Company in research and development of organic acids and solvents, technical services for polyolefins, and laboratory leadership.

Putting off the initial inspection (i.e. baseline) of piping and vessels in a new process unit is both common and problematic. The tendency of owners is to rely on the nominal thickness because the actual original thickness was either not measured or not recorded for calculating corrosion rates after the first wave of thickness readings are taken with the equipment having been in service for some period of time.
