Training and Testing NDE Personnel Remotely, Efficiently, and Economically

Pro-Surve Technical Services, March 26, 2025

Webinar Overview

Inspection service providers struggle with mandatory NDT classroom training required for certification and the conducting of the associated examinations due to the non-billable expense to conduct method-specific training and the travel required of the candidates to take company-specific training and exams. Additionally, candidates must show proof of classroom training and competency with each possible employer (along with work hours), as their certification does not cross over with the individual to the next employer.

Inspectioneering teams up with Pro-Surve Technical Services for our webinar, “Training and Testing NDE Personnel Remotely, Efficiently, and Economically.” In this webinar, we will discuss the “Safety Council” model of training and examination, which utilizes a combination of remote training and examinations with real-time live proctoring.

With this model, technician candidates may receive any general and specific method training they may need from any location, at any time, while being proctored to ensure integrity. Economies of scale and safety risk reductions are observed in the elimination of the travel previously required and the training time onsite, resulting in a significant savings of company time and expenses.

Melissa Briggs, Manager of eLearning at Health and Safety Council, has collaborated with many clients in the energy industry, including ExxonMobil, LyondellBasell, and Shell, to bring contractor compliance training beyond checking the box and into the modern learning context through the application of HASC's R4 Learner Retention Model. With a background and Master's in Curriculum & Instruction focused on adult learning, Melissa helped co-develop a model which helps to increase learner engagement through appropriate Rigor, Relevance, Reinforcement, and Reflection. Additionally, Melissa and the team at HASC have found ways to engage learners of diverse backgrounds through AI creative analogies, translanguaging, and gamification.
