Over the past few decades, major events in the oil and gas industry have driven regulatory bodies to develop new codes to help improve facility safety and increase accountability. The codes and resulting standards have heightened process safety requirements and introduced more challenges for facility management and employees.
Ensuring compliance and improving process safety are just two of the many challenges faced on a daily basis. These, coupled with the need to increase facility uptime has led to improvements in engineering practices (e.g. Risk-Based Inspection, Reliability Centered Maintenance), integrity and reliability software programs, and inspection and monitoring technologies.
