Turkey's state gas grid operator BOTAS signed an LNG trade deal with ExxonMobil on Wednesday, the Turkish energy minister said, in a bid to diversify resources.

"The U.S. is already one of our important suppliers of LNG," Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said on social media platform X.

"With this agreement, which is planned to be long-term, we will take another step towards diversifying our resources," Bayraktar said, adding that the deal was signed in Washington.

Bayraktar did not provide any other details on the deal. The energy ministry was not immediately available for comment.
