Marathon's Garyville, LA Refinery Reports Fire, Chemical Leak

WDSU News, August 25, 2023

Emergency crews are responding to a fire and naphtha leak at Marathon Petroleum in Garyville. The release and fire are contained on the refinery's property, with no injuries reported. A two-mile radius evacuation has been ordered, and an emergency shelter set up. Highway 44 is closed, and as a precaution, air monitoring has been deployed in the community.
