API 510 ICP Certification Preparation E-Learning Course Launched by ASTM International and Codes and Standards Training Institute (CASTI)

ASTM International, June 10, 2019

ASTM International in partnership with the Codes and Standards Training Institute (CASTI), launched the API 510 ICP Certification Preparation e-learning course to help people pass the API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector ICP exam. This is the first ASTM|CASTI e-Learning Series - Certification Prep course, with API 570 Piping Inspector ICP and API 653 Storage Tank Inspector ICP to follow.

The course will teach participants topics in the API 510 ICP Body of Knowledge, which code documents are required, and how to navigate code documents to find necessary information.

Specifically, participants will learn to:

  • identify responsibilities for various roles, including: owner/user organization, engineer, repair organization, inspector, and examiners;
  • perform calculations involving thickness measurements, inspection intervals, and vessel integrity;
  • evaluate welding procedures and qualification based on ASME Section IX, and
  • determine code requirements for nondestructive examination.

The course, with live session options available, is designed for individuals that have applied, or been accepted, to take the exam.

ASTM International is recognized by the International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET) as an Authorized Provider of Continuing Education Units (CEUs). This e-learning course offers 8.0 CEUs that equal 80 professional development hours.

ASTM International announced the partnership with CASTI last year. The ASTM-CASTI e-Learning Series allows customers to study at their own pace on any device, with easy to learn step-by-step explanations of codes and standards. CASTI’s role in the partnership is to provide training content and subject matter expertise through its 29 years of experience training people worldwide on codes and standards for a number of industries.
