ExxonMobil and Qatar Petroleum Greenlight $10B LNG Project in Texas

On Tuesday, ExxonMobil and Qatar Petroleum announced a final investment decision on a $10 billion project to expand liquefied natural gas (LNG) export capabilities from the Texas Gulf Coast. The Golden Pass LNG Project (70% owned by Qatar Petroleum and 30% owned by ExxonMobil) will be situated near Port Arthur, Texas and is expected to create about 9,000 jobs over its five-year construction period, and more than 200 when in operation. 

Darren Woods, Exxon’s chief executive, said in a statement that Golden Pass would “provide an increased, reliable, long-term supply of liquefied natural gas to global gas markets, stimulate local growth and create thousands of jobs.
