Two $100 Million Expansion Projects Coming to Delaware in 2018

Delaware Online, March 1, 2018

Delaware is poised for two major expansion projects this year. Construction work on a $100 million upgrade of the Linde Group's facility in Claymont is slated to begin this spring, while PBF Energy is looking to begin its own $100 million upgrade this summer at the company's 190,000 bpd Delaware City Refinery.

Linde's expansion project centers on the installation of a new air separation unit, equipment that generates oxygen, nitrogen and argon from ambient air.  Linde says the upgrade will transform its 10-acre facility off Philadelphia Pike into the company's largest liquid merchant plant in the United States.

The Delaware City Refinery upgrade is still in the planning stages, but refinery officials say it is "essentially" the same hydrogen production unit installation that state regulators approved back in 2015. The project is expected to result in about 150 construction jobs.
