Explosion, Fire Hit CPC Corp Refinery in Taiwan; No Injuries

An explosion and subsequent fire was reported at CPC Corporation's 200,000 bpd refinery in Taoyuan, Taiwan on Monday. The incident reportedly occurred when a hydrodesulfurization unit that had been undergoing maintenance for a month was restarted. A rupture in a pipe after the restart is suspected of causing the explosion and fire, CPC said in a written statment.  No injuries have been reported.
