NRG Lays Off Workers Around the Country; At Least 100 in Houston

Houston-based NRG confirmed Tuesday that it laid off employees in Texas and around the country, as part of an effort to cut costs, slash debt and boost its stock price. The company would not say how many workers lost jobs, but at least 100 were based in Houston according to a laid-off worker who requested anonymity protect his severance. NRG Energy is a leading U.S. power company with the nation's largest and most diverse competitive electric generation portfolio and leading retail electricity platform.
