Dow Freeport Expansion Nearing Completion

Dow Chemical’s multi-billion dollar expansion project in Freeport, TX is nearing completion, with its massive ethane cracker expected to come online mid-year. Once fully operational, the cracker will produce 1.5 million tons of ethylene per year. The ethane cracker is the largest piece of Dow’s more than $6 billion expansion along the Gulf Coast (mostly in Freeport and Lake Jackson), to add more ethylene, polyethylene, propylene and other plastics manufacturing. Most of the production will go toward delivering plastics to the developing world.
