Taiwan's Formosa Seeks U.S. Permit for Nearly $15 Billion Investment into LA and TX

Formosa Plastics Group is seeking permission from Louisiana officials to invest $9.4 billion to build petrochemical plants is St. James Parish.  The Taiwanese chemical giant is also working on a $5 billion investment to expand production lines in Texas, according to Formosa Plastics Corp. Chairman Jason Lin. Formosa joins other Asian companies in boosting investments along the U.S. Gulf Coast, as U.S. shale gas offers a cheaper alternative source of raw materials for petrochemicals production.
