Fire Reported at Wakayama Refinery in Japan

TonenGeneral Sekiyu K.K., a major petroleum and petrochemical producer based in Japan, has reported that a fire occurred in a tank at its 132,000 bpd Wakayama refinery around 6:50 a.m. Wednesday morning during tank cleaning operations. The company added that the fire was extinguished at around 3:30 p.m. as a result of efforts by local authorities and the refinery’s fire brigade. No injuries occurred in connection with the fire, and refinery operations, as well as overland and marine shipping operations, are proceeding as usual.
