Idemitsu resumes operation of Hokkaido vacuum distillation unit after fire

Reuters, August 10, 2016

Japanese oil refiner Idemitsu Kosan Co. said it resumed operations on Sunday at the 24,000 barrel per day (bpd) vacuum distillation unit at its 160,000-bpd Hokkaido refinery, in northern Japan, after the unit caught fire earlier last week.

There has been no impact on its shipments, a spokesman said on Monday.

The fire, which occurred at around 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday (1615 GMT on Monday), went out soon after the company conducted the emergency shutdown of the unit.
