Japan's Mitsubishi Chem JV shuts cracker after problem

Japan's Asahi Kasei Mitsubishi Chemical Ethylene Corp on Wednesday shut its 567,000 tonnes-per-year naphtha cracker in Mizushima, western Japan, due to an unspecified problem, joint venture partner Mitsubishi Chemical Corp said.

The joint venture with Asahi Kasei Chemicals is checking the cause of the incident and has no timetable for restart, a Mitsubishi Chemical spokesman said.
