Fire at Russian Refinery Claims 8 Lives

A fire at an oil refinery in Ufa, Russia over the weekend has claimed the lives of eight people according to a report from Sputnik International.  The fire reportedly started in a hydrocracking unit and quickly spread, covering approximately 300 square meters before crews could extinguish the blaze. The Bashneft - Ufaneftekhim refinery is one of the largest refineries in Russia, with an annual processing capacity of 9.5 million tonnes. Ruslan Yusupov, the official representative of Bashneft, said that the cause of the fire at Ufa oil refinery could be a rupture of the pipeline.
