Quest Integrity Group Introduces Nuclear Power Plant Piping Inspection Animation

Quest Integrity, July 11, 2013

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Quest Integrity Group, a global leader in the development and delivery of advanced inspection and engineering assessment services and software products, introduces a new animation focused on the inspection and assessment of buried or inaccessible piping in nuclear facilities utilizing HYDRA™, an ultrasonic-based intelligent pigging technology. HYDRA addresses the nuclear industry initiative on buried piping integrity and satisfies NEI 09-14 inspection requirements.

The animation demonstrates the inspection of nuclear piping systems, which are commonly buried inside or under concrete structures. HYDRA is compact and lightweight making it easily transported into and around a plant, and since the tool is bi-directional, only one launch location is required. The tool navigates complex piping circuits, providing 100% inspection coverage of the interior and exterior surfaces. HYDRA detects and records wall loss damage such as pitting, corrosion or erosion, and deformations such as denting, ovality, swelling or bulging with superior accuracy. In addition to providing high quality inspection data, Quest Integrity can also conduct a full fitness-for-service evaluation per ASME FFS-1.

“The nuclear plant piping inspection animation illustrates the cost-effective in-line inspection capability for buried or inaccessible piping. The inspection results are generated and provided to the client within hours, enabling nuclear plant managers to ensure piping integrity, minimize operational and safety risk and comply with regulatory requirements for inspection,” said Rich Roberts, Vice President and General Manager - Process Division, Quest Integrity Group.
