Quest Integrity Group Introduces LOTIS® Animation

March 18, 2013

Quest Integrity Group, a global leader in the development and delivery of advanced inspection and engineering assessment services and software products, introduces a new animation of its LOTIS (Laser Optic Tube Inspection System) technology. LOTIS utilizes laser profilometry to conduct internal steam reformer tube inspections. Based on the inspection results, Quest Integrity can perform an in-depth remaining life assessment with its highly qualified engineers employing its proprietary tools and resources, including LifeQuest™ Reformer software, materials creep database and extensive metallurgical expertise.

The animation depicts the inspection process inside the primary steam reformer. LOTIS inspects the steam reformer tubes quickly and detects creep strain damage as well as an internal gouge caused during manufacture. The LOTIS inspection provides a significant quantity of diagnostic information, allowing plant engineers to actively manage and often extend tube life beyond the normal 100,000 operating hours.

“The LOTIS animation illustrates our integrated inspection and assessment capabilities for steam reformers, which minimize the risk of unplanned downtime due to premature tube failure. Preliminary results are available within minutes following the inspection, enabling our clients to make confident, real-time decisions concerning the return of the steam reformer to service,” said Rich Roberts, Vice President and General Manager - Process Division, Quest Integrity Group.
