This Spring, Inspectioneering hosted our 15th biannual "Meeting of the Minds" (MOTM) roundtable discussion in San Francisco, California, bringing together a select group of mechanical integrity (MI) leaders from across the refining/petrochemical, midstream, offshore production, and chemical processing sectors. Supported by Equity, this forum provided a platform for participants to openly share experiences, discuss innovative ideas, and identify opportunities to enhance their MI programs.
Previous MOTM discussions, summarized in the Inspectioneering Journal archives, have covered critical topics such as corrosion under insulation (CUI) programs, risk-based inspection (RBI), data collection, analysis, and validation, organizational capability and competency development, new software tools and NDE technologies, and most recently next-gen AI, advanced sensor, and robotics technologies.
The Spring 2025 meeting centered around the theme of moving beyond baseline compliance toward true inspection excellence and highlighted the critical role of Integrity Operating Windows (IOWs) and Damage Mechanism Reviews (DMRs) in achieving this distinct step change. The participants shared some of their successes and challenges, and discussed the importance of training, cross-functional collaboration, and demonstrating value to gain leadership buy-in and ensure the sustainability of these crucial programs. This short recap article highlights some of the key takeaways from the discussion.
