ASME has an active Post Construction Committee (PCC) for generating standards for in-service inspection. As such, the ASME is no longer just a “new construction” standardization organization. The Subcommittee on Repair and Testing now has 23 chapters in preparation on various methods of conducting repairs (temporary and permanent) on pressure equipment, tanks and piping.

Each of these new sections of the Repair and Testing Standard are in various levels of preparation that range from initial draft through various levels of balloting to final copy awaiting publication. Each section has the same organization and format with information needed by Inspectioneers in the following areas:

  • Description of the Repair
  • Limitations and Precautions
  • Design/Fabrication Issues
  • Examination and Testing Practices
  • Additional references
