API Announces On-Line Directory of Certified Inspectors

This article appears in the September/October 2003 issue of Inspectioneering Journal

On September 1, 2003 API has launched an exciting new service for the inspection industry - Individual Certification Program (ICP) Directory, an online listing of certified individuals. The new ICP Directory provides a free and easy to use method for locating inspectors by certification and/or by geographic location. Over the years, API has received many requests to publish the API Individual Certification Programs participants’ information, so this program was long expected and much needed. Already since this information was first published on API’s website, the ICP Directory drew over 2000 searches. Inspectors’ participation in this listing is completely voluntary.

Inspectors: Please note that whether or not to be listed in the ICP directory is fully within your control. API is first going on- line with a 90-day “Phase One” - which limits the listing to only inspector names, certificate(s), and city/state/ country for every certified inspector in our active files. This will give all inspectors adequate time to decide if they want to be included in the ICP Directory and to check the accuracy of their contact information. It is important to note that API assumes that any decision regarding the inclusion in the ICP Directory has been reviewed and approved (where applicable) by inspector’s employer. An individual’s listing can also be removed from the directory at any time upon inspector’s request.

To assist API in making the ICP Directory as useful as possible, all certified inspectors should assure that the details of their personal listing is correct.

Important: After “Phase One” runs out in 90 days, full information (name, address, telephone number, e-mail, etc.) for all inspectors who have not notified API of their decision to withdraw, will be available on the ICP Directory. This listing will then remain in place until an inspector initiates further action.

We urge all certified inspectors to help us make this new ICP Directory one of the best resources in the industry by sending us a fast response. Please click on the link www.api.org/ICPDirectory and proceed to notify API of your decision and to update your personal information. Check the ICP Directory today!
