Damage Mechanisms Leading to Deterioration or Failure of Refinery, Chemical, E&P and Petrochemical Equipment

An API task group is working on the total revision of this API reference document 571. It will be an extremely helpful reference and supporting document to the API inspection codes, 570 (Piping), 510 (Pressure Vessels) & 653 (Above ground storage tanks), Fitness for Service RP 579 and RBI. Process industries including chemical and petrochemical, in addition to refining and exploration and production will find many valuable uses for the information contained in this work.

The revised document will be written to the level of managers, inspectors and other non corrosion/metallurgical professionals to be of practical benefit to persons needing access to this type of information on a daily basis. They can reference this document to make better decisions on what types of damage to expect, the driving forces, where to look and what types of NDE are best suited to find, classify, monitor and quantify the damage. Both traditional and leading edge technologies will be included.
