Mechanical Engineer I

We serve the energy sector (refining, petrochemical and power generation industries) providing equipment and materials performance expertise that spans both traditional and emerging technology. Mechanical engineers with 2-5 years’ experience who want to extend their technical skills while working and learning in an open and collaborative multidiscipline team environment are ideal candidates.

We combine vast experience through our network of over 1200 technical experts with both engineering fundamentals and advanced analysis to solve problems related to acoustic and flow-induced vibration, thermal and mechanical fatigue, high temperature creep and plasticity to name a few. We ensure the most advanced technology is readily available to our employees, such as finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and provide the expertise and direction for motivated individuals to apply these tools to impact the solution of real world problems. Becht is a technical leader in pressure vessels, piping, structures and materials and as such has a major role in international codes and standards, allowing a unique opportunity to both learn and contribute at an industry-wide level.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline
  • 2-5 years’ experience in a mechanical engineering field
  • Ability to apply a range of engineering fundamentals to understand and solve problems
  • Ability and desire to learn and apply new concepts in a dynamic environment
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

Desired:

  • Some familiarity with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code (Sections I, III or VIII) and/or ASME piping codes
  • Professional experience with finite element analysis and/or computational fluid dynamics
  • Experience with piping analysis software such as Caesar II
  • Experience with programming languages such as VBA to create customized tools for engineering calculations and data analysis
  • Familiarity with American Petroleum Institute standards related to fitness-for-service

This opportunity is for the Mechanical Division within Becht Engineering, consisting of more than 30 people with major offices in New Jersey, Ohio, Calgary and Houston. Early career opportunities are available at the Ohio (greater Cleveland area) and Calgary locations.
