Mechanical Engineer II

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline
  • 5-15 years’ experience in the refining, petrochemical or power generation industries
  • Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals ranging from solid mechanics to basic fluid flow and heat transfer
  • Proficiency with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code and ASME piping codes
  • Professional experience with finite element analysis and/or computational fluid dynamics
  • Professional experience with applications of fracture mechanics for fracture and fatigue crack growth
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

Desired:

  • Familiarity with American Petroleum Institute standards related to fitness-for-service, specifically Level 3 assessments
  • Experience with flow and acoustic induced vibration
  • Experience with nonlinear FEA (contact, large deformation, nonlinear materials)
  • Experience with cyclic plasticity, fatigue and creep assessments
  • Experience with piping analysis software such as Caesar II
  • Experience with programming languages such as VBA to create customized tools for engineering calculations and data analysis

This opportunity is for the Mechanical Division within Becht Engineering, consisting of more than 30 people with major offices in New Jersey, Ohio, Calgary and Houston. Mid-career opportunities are available at all locations.
