ABI® Technology produces testing equipment that uses the Automated Ball Indentation® (ABI®) method of non-destructive testing. Born in the nuclear industry, this methodology and technology has been used over the last 30+ years in the oil and gas, chemical, nuclear, and transportation industries.

The ABI® non-destructive testing methodology measures tensile properties of the material and fracture toughness. Having these critical material properties allow asset owners to make better asset integrity decisions, resulting in safe systems and lower costs to maintain them.

ABI® Technology has deep roots in the field, which informs its ability to design and deliver testing systems that make it easier for inspectors in the field to safely, quickly, accurately, and cost-effectively do their work. ABI® Technology's latest field product line is lighter, easy to secure to the testing site, and is equipped for rope access so that field staff can access hard to reach areas that require testing without the cost and time of setting up scaffolding.

As Oil and Gas infrastructure ages and new infrastructure is put in place, the need for a fast, reliable, accurate, and cost-effective testing methodology and technology is urgent. ABI® is fast, minimally invasive, and easily repeatable. It costs less in asset downtime and direct cost. Asset owners can test more miles of pipeline, more storage vessels, and process systems without expanding their testing budgets.
