AspenTech and Becht are excited to offer a brand-new training that combines refining domain practice with application of AspenTech solutions. Jointly delivered by refining domain experts from Becht and modeling experts from AspenTech, students will learn refinery operations, gain additional insights into the energy industry and get hands-on experience using AspenTech tools to solve real-world problems.
Becht is a US-based engineering services company with several hundred senior specialists serving energy, chemicals, power, and alternative energy industries for close to 60 years.
Overview
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to use fundamental knowledge on refining processing and the use of process simulations. They will:
- Develop a baseline understanding of refining business from feedstocks to products
- Develop a baseline understanding of key process technologies
- Leverage the intuitive solving capabilities and other key features of Aspen HYSYS and Aspen HYSYS Petroleum Refining
- Gain confidence in modeling distillation and fractionation columns
- Perform Case Studies to determine the optimum operating points for a process
- Learn the different options for defining and managing crude oil assay information and properties
Who Should Attend
The program has been designed for personnel recently assigned to positions in the petroleum refining industry. It is assumed that those in attendance have backgrounds in engineering and chemistry or have actual refinery operating experience. Interested parties who do not have technical or refinery backgrounds should consider attending our alternate program, “Basics of Petroleum Refining for Non-Technical Personnel”.
- New engineering graduates/technologists who will be using Aspen HYSYS in their daily work
- Process engineers doing refinery process design and optimization projects and studies
- Plant engineers checking plant performance under different operating conditions
- R&D engineers and researchers using Aspen HYSYS for process synthesis
