Webinar Description
On June 10, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. (CST) Joel Andreani, P.E., Senior Vice President of Consulting Engineering at E²G | The Equity Engineering Group, Inc., will discuss the evaluation of damage to Aboveground Storage Tanks (ASTs), such as metal loss, crack-like flaws and weld defects, and distortion (out-of-roundness, dents and buckling). Case studies of Fitness-for-service (FFS) assessments of ASTs and associated piping and pipelines will be presented, with an emphasis on FFS methodologies in API 579-1/ASME FFS-1 (API 579). These case studies will illustrate how FFS techniques can be used to make run-repair-replace decisions, determine remaining life, and when repairs are inevitable, how to determine and limit the extent of repairs needed. The presentation will also discuss some of the pitfalls of using API 579 for AST FFS assessments and how these can be addressed.
