The American Petroleum Institute’s (API) Individual Certification Programs (ICP) offers globally recognized certifications for personnel that help ensure the safety and quality of petroleum and petrochemical industry operations.

These professional certification programs provide a way to evaluate the knowledge and experience of technical and inspection personnel based on industry-developed standards. There are more than 40,000 ICP certified individuals holding more than 68,000 certifications globally, showing that ICP certifications are considered one of the most demanded credentials in the industry.

To gain a greater understanding of the impact of ICP certifications, API conducted a survey of customers that validated the importance of ICP certifications to the individuals pursuing or holding certifications, as well as to the companies and the industry they work for.
