Overview
API 570, Piping Inspection Code: In-Service Inspection, Rating, Repair and Alteration of Piping Systems, states that “the interval between piping inspection shall be established and maintained,” and should be based on several factors, including “corrosion rate and remaining life calculations,” piping classification, and other code requirements. If statistical analysis or risk-based inspection (RBI) methods are not used, point-to-point can be used to determine future inspection requirements.
This corrosion rate calculator serves as a supplement to the article, Is Advanced Statistical Analysis the Next Step in Your Piping Inspection Journey?, published in the Jan/Feb 2022 issue of Inspectioneering Journal. Using this interactive tool, you can automatically calculate the short- and long-term corrosion rates, remaining life, next inspection, and retirement dates for your piping circuits.
