These are busy times at the Inspectioneering office. In addition to the recent launch of Inspectioneering Training Solutions, we’ve been hard at work on some new and exciting projects that I’d like to bring to your attention.
The Return of Inspectioneering Benchmarking Surveys
Our last benchmarking survey was conducted way back in 2017. It’s hard to imagine that five years have passed since we’ve conducted one! Delays notwithstanding, we understand the importance of benchmarking facility data and are kicking off a new initiative to regularly conduct new benchmarking surveys.
Thanks to a nearly constant flow of feedback and requests from readers, we’re kicking off the latest set of studies with the 2022 Pressure Equipment/Inspector Ratio Benchmarking Survey, which explores how inspection staffing levels compare to facility equipment counts. These metrics are valuable for determining and justifying inspection resources based on staffing at similarly sized facilities.
Eligible participants (anyone currently employed with an owner-user/operator company) will receive a report containing the final results. To learn more and participate, please visit https://inspectioneering.com/+/2022survey
On-Demand Webinars
As many of you are aware, API recently released new requirements for inspectors looking to renew their inspection certifications. In short, certified inspectors must now complete a set amount of continuing professional development hours (CPDs). Inspectors may receive CPDs from various sources such as training courses, in-person industry events, and online webinars.
In alignment with these requirements, Inspectioneering has made a concerted effort to provide free webinars to our audience this year. We’ve hosted a webinar each month and intend to continue doing so for the foreseeable future. We issue certificates of attendance to all eligible attendees, which can then be submitted to API for CPDs.
Now, we’re taking things a step further. Starting this month, our most recent archived webinars will also award certificates of completion that will count towards API CPDs. All you need is an Inspectioneering.com account to start watching our On-Demand Webinars. Combined with our recently-launched Inspectioneering Training platform, we’re offering a number of different ways for you to get your continuing education credits.
The Mechanical Integrity Professional Academy
Speaking of online training, we’re very excited to announce a new initiative by Inspectioneering and API called The Mechanical Integrity Professional Academy. The objective of this initiative is to raise the industry’s benchmark on technical knowledge by delivering world-class training programs and educational materials. It is built on our shared belief that, by equipping inspectors with greater knowledge, education, and proficiency, the industry will be safer and more reliable.
What exactly can you expect from the MIP Academy?
- Information-packed online short courses that range from one to three hours in duration
- Foundational information on a number of MI-related topics that are useful in day-to-day operations
- Courses are taught by recognized experts with deep domain and industry knowledge
- Courses are eligible for CPD hours
The initiative will be launching in January 2023. In the meantime, you can sign up to receive updates at http://www.api.org/MIPAcademy.
