Pieter VanderWerf: About the Author
President, Building Works
Dr. Pieter VanderWerf is President of Building Works, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in new construction products. He has written six books and many articles on new concrete products and systems. His firm has advised trade associations and government agencies about the merits of alternative construction methods and materials, and assisted many companies looking to commercialize their new products. Dr. VanderWerf received his undergraduate degree in mathematics and economics from Dartmouth College and a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he studied innovative materials. For three years he also worked as Business Development Manager for the National Association of Home Builders Research Center, where he evaluated new construction products and services. As a young man he worked as a carpenter and general contractor.
