Piping Failure Due to External Corrosion at US Refinery
A U.S. refiner said it is examining pipes and systems at its U.S. facilities in the wake of a May 2009 fire at a 178,000-barrel-per-day refinery.
Per a published statement they began a short-term effort at all facilities to examine piping systems and identify locations of possible concern so they can be addressed immediately. They also began implementing a special emphasis program for high-risk systems to identify and address any similar structures to make sure similar conditions do not exist at any at other owned facilities.
